Janni counsels clients on all areas of life science, but specialises in health and medicine, biotechnology, diagnostics, medical devices and cleantech. She has particular expertise in the patenting of peptide and small-molecule drugs, antibody-based drugs, medical treatments and biomarkers.

Her clients range from innovative start-up companies and individual scientists to Danish universities and medium-sized companies primarily in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry.

Janni joined HØIBERG in 2009 as a patent attorney, became partner in 2016 and is teamleader of our Biotech department.

Janni counsels on IP strategy, IP due diligence, business development, license agreements, freedom-to-operate (FTO), validity of patents, oppositions and appeals before the EPO (European Patent Office), supplementary protection certificate (SPC) nationally and internationally, in addition to drafting and prosecution of patent applications. Janni has extensive experience in representing clients at oral proceedings before the EPO Examining Divisions, Opposition Divisions and Boards of Appeal. She also has experience with European and US patent litigation proceedings.

Janni has a Master’s degree in human biology and a PhD in molecular cell biology, both from the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at University of Copenhagen. Before joining HØIBERG, Janni was a research scientist in a large international company.
