Catharina counsels in all areas of life science including biochemistry, medicine and molecular medicine. Catharina joined HØIBERG in 2019 and has expertise within basic and translational research regarding different organ systems in health and disease.
She has an interdisciplinary background holding a Master of Science within Molecular Medicine from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, combining natural sciences with pre-clinical medicine, and holding a PhD from Copenhagen University within cellular and molecular biology. During this time, her research focused on growth plate and joint cartilage in the context of developmental diseases and arthritis.
During her post-doc time and subsequent research employment at Lund University, Catharina’s research focused on muscular dystrophy as well as chronic lung diseases and lung transplantation. This encompassed close collaboration with hospitals and pathology departments in Sweden and Denmark. Her core competencies include cell culture and biochemical techniques, disease models, histology, human lung histopathology and expertise within extracellular matrix and basement membrane molecules.
