Peter Borg Gaarde is Partner in HØIBERG as well as European Patent Attorney, European Design Attorney, UPC representative and certified Danish patent agent. Peter gives strategic advice on all aspects of intellectual property, with vast experience in patenting of inventions bridging the technical sciences of physics/mathematics and biology/biotech. Peter joined HØIBERG in 2007 with a background in physics and mathematics from UCPH. He became Partner and Head of Team Hightech & Software in 2013.
Peter’s clients range from Danish C25 companies over SMVs to startups and universities as well as companies from around the world. The clients are largely concentrated in robotics, software, quantum computing, optics, medtech and mechanics. Peter has expertise within in oral proceedings, oppositions and appeals before the European Patent Office, IP strategy, US re-examination, freedom-to-operate analyses, infringement assessments and legal prosecution in Europe and the United States.
Peter has a Master’s degree in physics from the University of Copenhagen. During his education, Peter obtained technical expertise within quantum physics and X-ray scattering.
Prior to joining HØIBERG Peter spent seven years with optical fiber research & development at Lucent Technologies, part of the AT&T conglomerate, while competing at an international level in elite road race cycling.
