Sebastian Buchmann is a patent consultant in HØIBERG’s HighTech team, based in the Stockholm office. He joined HØIBERG in 2025 and has experience in various types of patent-related counselling, including drafting and prosecution of patent applications, patentability assessments, and freedom-to-operate analyses.
Sebastian holds a PhD in Medical Technology from KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Karolinska Institutet. His academic background combines nanoscience, microtechnology, and biomedical engineering, with research focused on microphysiological systems and organic bioelectronics. During his doctoral studies, he developed microfluidic and microfabricated platforms for interfacing with biological systems, integrating device design, rapid prototyping, and bioelectronic sensing.
His research experience spans microfluidic and organ-on-chip systems, microscale fabrication methods, and biologically compatible electronic materials, including work on lipid and vesicle systems, bioelectronic sensors, and in vitro biological models. Sebastian has contributed to peer-reviewed publications in leading journals and has collaborated with multidisciplinary research groups across engineering, materials science, and life sciences.
With his interdisciplinary technical background, Sebastian supports clients in translating complex research and development into clear and robust patent protection, particularly for innovations involving microsystems, diagnostics, and advanced biomedical technologies.
